RE: how do i get my automation toolbar back

Hi, Al.

You should be able to right-click in the toolbar area and see a list of toolbars that are available.  Then just click on the toolbar name to 'check' it for display.  If I've totally misunderstood what's happened, please post a screen shot and we'll get you a better answer :).

Well it seems that you've uncovered a bug.  I'm discussing with the dev team on how to reset Toad so you can get your toolbar back.  We'll update this asap.  Sorry for the troubles.

I think we have a work-around.  If you rename your Toad application data directory Toad will recreate it with factory default settings which would include your toolbars.

You can find your application data directory by clicking on Help + About.  You should see something like this:

Close Toad, rename the folder and restart Toad.  Your toolbar should be restored.

Or you should be able to reset all tool bars by right clicking on the main toolbar via:

Thanks for the information. I would still suggest to open a support ticket at support.software.dell.com so they can coordinate and schedule a call\webex with you as we could not ascertain what your issue is from your images.

I would suggest to create an Automation script - save that and schedule that to run.

You can then see the command line arguements to run a script file:

Then save the automation script:

Then schedule that via:

Then you can see the command line syntax:

"E:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Toad for DB2 2016 Suite\Toad for DB2 6.2\toad.exe" -batch=true "D:\Misc\SQL\aus1.tas"

You can see that -batch=true is the first parm

You can see that the tas (automation file) is the second parm

Hope this helps

In order to assist we need additional information. It might make sense to open a support case at support.software.dell.com so our support techs can capture all relevant information needed for troubleshooting including:

Can you post the results of a db2level command?

Can you post the results of a list database directory command in the CLP?

Can you catalog databases in the CLP?

Do any existing databases that are cataloged show up in Toad? Can you connect to them?

How many DB2 clients to you have installed?

What DB2 client is specified in Toad via Tools - Options - Database - DB2 - General - DB2 Client?

Hi Jeff,

thank you.  I was able to schedule the task.

Do you have a list of the possible parameters for the exe?

Thank you.

It turns out that the reported issue is based on: On certain Windows platforms, several versions of the IBM DB2 client do not correctly registry the IBM DB2 .Net Data Providers.

Windows 8, 10 and 2012 require certain DB2 Fix Pack levels for the client to ensure that the DB2 dlls are properly registered in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC):

DB2 10.5 FixPack 4
DB2 10.1 FixPack 4
DB2 9.7 FixPack 10

This will be contained in our release notes going forward.
