Hello,
You will need to upgrade to DB2 V9.7 or V10.1 first.

How can upgrade db2 9.5.to db2 10.5?
Hi-
My primary platform is Toad for DB2, but I need to use some data on a SQL server for some queries.
Toad for DB2 and Toad for SQL server are loaded on the same workstation, but under Create New Connection, the Group Drop-down only shows DB2 in the Toad DB2 program and SQL server in the Toad for SQL.
Can't one Toad application see both connection groups?
What about ODBC. Can I get Toad for DB2 to use ODBC to access the SQL server? I don't see how.
Thanks in advance.
Mitchell
Toad DB2 will only allow you to connect to DB2 LUW databases or DB2 z/OS subsystems.
Toad for SQL Server will only allow you to connect to SQL Server databases.
We have another product, Toad Data Point (TDP) that allows you to connect to many different database types including using ODBC connections.
For information on TDP visit:
Thank you for the direct answer.
Hi. Is there a way to turn off the show object details when the mouse hovers over a object name in a select statement in the edit window?
Thanks
edit: Toad for DB2 6.2.0.315
In Toad DB2 6.2 there is no way to turn off the popup object details, however in our new 6.3 version - currently in beta - there is an option (via tools - options) to turn that off.
If the Editor - Tools - 'Show information popups for Objects' checkbox is unchecked - you will not get those popups.
Please try our Toad DB2 6.3 beta and let us know what you think - it is available at:

Thanks
Thanks for the info. beta software isn't an option for me.
FYI - We are targeting to have our v6.3 GA release out near the end of March 2017 and that will contain the feature...
I believe this should be asked in the Toad Intelligence Central forum located here:

Thanks,

I placed a copy on the TIC forum. How do I remove this one?
I am attempting to join 2 Toad Intelligence Central tables with an excel (97-2003 version) spreadsheet in a query. The query opens with no issues, but when I try to execute it, I encounter the following error: "Missing MySQL ODBC Driver: To execute a Cross-Query that uses a Toad Intelligence Central connection you will need to install a MySQL ODBC Driver on this client."
I am able to execute the same query on the TIC server, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the TIC server.
When I look at the ODBC Data Source Administrator on my desktop (where the query fails), the drivers tab shows 2 MySQL drivers: MySQL ODBC 5.3 ANSI Driver and MySQL ODBC 5.3 Unicode Driver. I tried uninstalling the MySQL drivers and installing the latest MySQL drivers with the same error.
I have run this query before (a month or so ago) on my desktop with no issues. I am currently using TDP 4.0.0.396 and TIC 3.1.0.22 with no recent upgrades.
Any ideas?
Ravi,
IBM has a tech article regarding this error message which states the following:
"There are some situations in which no return code is returned such as the following example:
SQL30081N A communication error has been
detected. Communication protocol being used: "TCP/IP". Communication
API being used: "SOCKETS". Location where the error was detected:
"192.168.1.200". Communication function detecting the error: "recv".
Protocol specific error code(s):"*", "*", "0". SQLSTATE=08001
*,*,0 indicates the connection was closed by the peer. This could be any network device (i.e. firewall, router, workload balancing device, etc...) between the client and DB2 server, or the DB2 server itself. "
Here is the link to the article:

Hopefully this helps.

When I try to connect cataloged DB using toad I am getting below error.
ERROR [08001] [IBM] SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol being used: "TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location where the error was detected: "IP Removed". Communication function detecting the error: "selectForRecvTimeout". Protocol specific error code(s): "0", "*", "*". SQLSTATE=08001.
After making changes to tools>options>databases>timeouts>connection timeout to 60 I am able to connect but it is slow. do anyone has any idea on this error or slowness.
Hello everyone,
Can any one help me I'm new to Toad i will get error message as "API Guard Issue" what exactly it means? why we will encounter this?
I'm having 5.0 version.It is IBM DB2 Version.
Hello Ambuja,
This message is issued by the parser, and it is due to an issue in Toad itself. It is an notification (or alert if you will), some way to protect against a potential crash. Toad team will sure point out what the real cause is.
Thanks,
Andre
